I was at a wedding yesterday in Chicago; it was a beautiful service on top of the Wyndham Hotel—very classy. But as most swooned over the bride and groom, I listened to groom as he spoke of his love for his “princess”. There’s no doubt, there is someone for everyone and these two are a testament to the “love conquers all theory”—I’m a fan of two people and the “happily ever after.” The wedding was for Morgan and Al, that’s what he goes by here in the states, but back home he’s known as Muzaffar. Al is from Syria, and as he puts it, he traveled 6500 miles to find the “American Dream.” Al is smart, fun, successful and there’s little doubt that he’s nuts about his “American girl.” He had a limited amount of family at his wedding due to travel restrictions between the U.S. and Syria—but his uncle spoke of his family at home and how proud they were of their son, not unlike any other family across this spinning ball we call earth. There’s much to be said about those that seek out this country for a better life—Al came here and did all the right things and he did it the right way. Today as we watch the news and listen to those that want to divide this country, I think it’s only appropriate that we understand that it’s still the best country in the world. We take for granted what Al already knows, if you want you can achieve anything, you can live the life you dreamed about and find your “princess” along the way. Today as the left and right fight it out, understand that no matter which side you’re on, people like Al still think it’s a pretty good place to be! Congrats, to the happy couple!
